Why does fracking use all those gravel trucks?

Gravel trucks one after the other in these poor roads in south Texas. Who is going to pay to repair the potholes? Will the taxpayer be shafted once again? Thanks, concerned citizen in Kenedy, TX

The gravel trucks are bringing sand to be injected into the well. The fractures are created with the pressurized fluid, then the sand goes in after to hold them open, so they don't squeeze shut again. Then the gas can flow around the sand particules into the well. I would suggest the county or whoever owns the road should make some aggreements with the companies to cover any damages - the taxpayer shouldn't be shafted for it.
